GRO-Biotech Events — Week of 5/8
Here are the latest events and opportunities, in the life sciences and beyond!
Wednesday, 5/17 ECHO Bio-Entrepreneurship Happy Hour. Derek Brand’s long-standing happy hours bringing together the NYC biotech ecosystem are back, gathering "Entrepreneurs, Clinicians/Capital, and Healthcare Operators" (aka ECHO) - a wide, if incomplete description of the stakeholders across the innovation ecosystem in New York. The first installment of this revitalized series will be at downtown mainstay Houston Hall and will be a chance to give everyone in an around NYC biotech an opportunity to come hang out without an agenda, without nametags, and certainly without any powerpoint presentations.
Thursday 5/18 STAT Locals NYC Happy Hour. Join STAT news for the next installment of their Locals series, free happy hour events, produced by STAT, to help encourage new connections and collaborations within the life science communities they report on. All those working in health and life sciences are welcome for some free drinks and light bites on STAT, but be sure to get there early — the event filled up pretty quickly last time.
Thursdays, 5/18-5/25 Starta Accelerator Spring Pitch Contests. Join the Starta Accelerator program for their Spring 2023 pitch contests in NYC, as founders hone their startups' pitch in front of a panel of judges, consisting of VCs, angels and industry experts. After the presentations, there will be time for Q&A with the pitching startups followed by networking with other frontrunners, entrepreneurs and investors of the NYC startup scene.
Friday, 5/19 Nucleate New York Final Pitch Showcase. Join Nucleate’s New York chapter for the culminating event for their second annual Activator cohort, featuring innovative and entrepreneurial student teams spanning all major regional biomedical institutions, developing pioneering work in platform discoveries, diagnostics, and therapeutics. Hosted at Alexandria LaunchLabs, it will be an exciting afternoon of talks from the next generation of biotech leaders sharing their exciting technologies.
Monday - Thursday, 6/5-8 BIO International Convention. After a pandemic and several years on the west coast, the BIO International Convention is back on the east coast in Boston this year, bringing together one of the largest groups of professionals in the biotech, pharmaceutical, and overall life sciences industries. Students and trainees can register to attend for free on Student Day, so be sure to apply for this great opportunity.
Thursday, 6/15 A New York State of Mind. The growth of the New York life science innovation scene has been exponential in recent years and as they say, it takes a village or in this case a city to make it all possible. This panel at JLABS NYC offices will celebrate the NYC life science innovation, discuss how New York City continues to persevere, and highlight some of the unique benefits of innovating in the “city that never sleeps” as well as showcase how each group plays a vital role in helping entrepreneurs bring much needed solutions to patients.
(NEW!) Thursday, 7/13 New York I-Corps Annual Network Meeting & Innovation Showcase. The New York I-Corps Hub is excited to welcome the ecosystem in-person for their 11th Annual Network Meeting on Thursday, July 13th at the CUNY John Jay College!
