Tuesday, 5/30 Cancer Startups: Surviving in Entrepreneurship While Fighting Tumors. Join the tri-institutional startup venture group for a panel featuring four representatives from three NYC startups on a mission to cure cancer. This panel will cover the technology being created by these companies, how scientists can become entrepreneurs, the rules and regulations needed to be followed to create a successful business, and many more topics!
(NEW!) Wednesday, 5/31 Columbia BiomedX Pitch Day. Please join the Columbia BiomedX team for the culminating event of their 13-week Lab-to-Market Life Science Accelerator Bootcamp focused on translating Columbia University faculty-led innovations from the lab to the clinic. The event is a great opportunity to hear presentations from innovative Columbia faculty-led biomedical research teams developing devices, software, and platform technologies to improve health outcomes. Teams have engaged through a series of lectures and workshops on a variety of commercially relevant topics including Market Sizing, Stakeholder Analysis, Regulatory & Reimbursement, Pitching 101, and Financing and Business models.
Thursday, 6/1 Genspace Biannual Open Lab. Open Lab is a biannual gathering where Genspace members share their work with each other and the public. Meet other life science enthusiasts and hear about opportunities to get involved with individual and community projects. If you're considering joining the lab, or are just curious to see what they’re all about, this is a great time to get to know the Genspace team.
(NEW!) Thursday, 6/1 Cornell Medicine Biomedical Business Plan Final Pitch. Join the Weill Cornell Medicine community for a night of cocktails and networking to celebrate the successful completion of the Business Plan Challenge program by their ambitious newcos. In this highly selective program, these faculty-led ventures complete 12 weeks of seminars led by subject matter experts. The topics include market concepts, intellectual property, R&D planning, licensing/partnering, budgeting/fundraising, and others. Industry mentors are matched to the teams to support development of their business plans and finalization of their investor pitches. The evening will kick off with pitches from each competing newco team, and a panel of VC judges will choose winners for the $100K prize. Following judge deliberations, an awards announcement and networking reception will commence.
(NEW!) Thursday, 6/1 Starta Accelerator Spring 2023 Demo Day. Meet Starta’s international founders and see what they've built during their 12-week accelerator program. After the pitches, network with other entrepreneurs, investors and frontrunners in the NYC tech scene!
Monday - Thursday, 6/5-8 BIO International Convention. After a pandemic and several years on the west coast, the BIO International Convention is back on the east coast in Boston this year, bringing together one of the largest groups of professionals in the biotech, pharmaceutical, and overall life sciences industries. Students and trainees can register to attend for free on Student Day, so be sure to apply for this great opportunity.
Thursday, 6/15 A New York State of Mind. The growth of the New York life science innovation scene has been exponential in recent years and as they say, it takes a village or in this case a city to make it all possible. This panel at JLABS NYC offices will celebrate the NYC life science innovation, discuss how New York City continues to persevere, and highlight some of the unique benefits of innovating in the “city that never sleeps” as well as showcase how each group plays a vital role in helping entrepreneurs bring much needed solutions to patients.
(NEW!) Tuesday, 6/27 NewYorkBIO Life Science Company Showcase. NewYorkBIO has partnered with NYSE to bring together New York's financial community and emerging companies developing novel therapeutics in areas which could revolutionize patient care.
(NEW!) Thursday, 6/29 Nanotech NYC: Nanonite Social. Join nanotech and deep tech researchers, founders, and enthusiasts for conversation and casual networking over drinks, hosted by the Nanotech NYC meetup. Whether you are a student, scientist, engineer, entrepreneur, educator, or just curious about what nanotechnology is and how it is used, you are welcome to join this friendly group. Thursday, 7/13 New York I-Corps Annual Network Meeting & Innovation Showcase. The New York I-Corps Hub is excited to welcome the ecosystem in-person for their 11th Annual Network Meeting on Thursday, July 13th at the CUNY John Jay College! This year’s program promises to be another exciting event designed to foster information sharing, expand commercialization programming, and cultivate networking with economic development leaders, entrepreneurs, academic innovators, and startup advisors.
