(NEW!) Tuesday, 4/18 Silly Science with Astronomy on Tap. Join Astronomy on Tap as they kick off the annual Taste of Science Festival with an evening of discussions on silly, but scientific topics at Pete's Candy Store in Brooklyn.
(NEW!) Wednesday, 4/19 Taste of Science: Environmental Exposures. The Taste of Science Festival continues on Wednesday with a set of presentations from two NYC-based biomedical researchers looking at how the environment affects the development of the brain and our mental health.
Wednesday, 4/19 Preparing for Entrepreneurship: Advisors. The latest edition of FirstXFounder’s Preparing for Entrepreneurship series covers one of the most important groups of people that don’t work at your company: advisors. The discussion will cover the kinds of advisors your startup needs and how you find them.Wednesday, 4/19 Trends in Life Science Venture Investing. Wednesday & Thursday, 4/19-20 2nd Annual Sensor CAT Symposium. The 2nd annual symposium will showcase CUNY-wide academic-industry research and workforce development partnerships that further innovation and entrepreneurship in NY State. Specifically, the event will feature CUNY entrepreneurs and start-up founders in conversation with industry leaders to discuss the present and future of hard technology development and applications to advance human and planetary health.
Thursday, 4/20 All Funds are Not Created Equal. JLABS @ NYC hosts this powerhouse panel to discuss financing options for a start-up in today’s environment including non-dilutive funding, new financing models for venture-backed businesses, and what warning signs make investors turn and run. This candid conversation will bring together experienced investors in the life science field for an interactive dialogue discussing where new opportunities for investment lie, and how to best position your company to attract such funding. Plus, a networking reception with the panelists and other attendees will follow.
Thursday, 4/20 Careers in Scientific and Medical Communications. Join the MSKCC Office of Career Development for this event, where 5 professionals, including PhD alumni from the Tri-I and other NYC institutions, discuss how they recently transitioned from academia to medical and scientific communications at a variety of different agencies that frequently recruit PhDs in the NYC area. Panelists include both PhDs who were recently on the job market or who have been working in medical/scientific communications for at least a few years, as well as PhDs who launched their career in med comms and who are now working in-house in pharma.
Thursdays, 4/20-5/25 Starta Accelerator Spring Pitch Contests. Join the Starta Accelerator program for their Spring 2023 pitch contests in NYC, as founders hone their startups' pitch in front of a panel of judges, consisting of VCs, angels and industry experts. After the presentations, there will be time for Q&A with the pitching startups followed by networking with other frontrunners, entrepreneurs and investors of the NYC startup scene.
Thursday-Sunday, 4/20-23 MIT Hacking Medicine Grand Hack. Join MIT Hacking Medicine at their annual flagship event in Boston, hosted at The Engine! This is the weekend to brainstorm and build innovative solutions with hundreds of engineers, clinicians, designers, developers and business people. Within the multi-theme event, there is sure to be a healthcare challenge for everyone!
(NEW!) Wednesday, 4/26 Taste of Science: Human Evolution. The other end of the Taste of Science Festival will feature two talks from experts on human origins and evolution to learn about what we can learn from fossils about early humans, their behavior, and how evolution shaped our species.
Thursday, 4/27 HITLAB Digital Health Symposium. Join HITLAB for their monthly Symposium, featuring an assortment of digital health experts from a range of industries and backgrounds. Hear from experts in the field about the latest in digital health tech innovation, and how it is leveling the playing field of health equity around the globe.

Thursday, 5/11 ABCT | WCBA: Pitch Day 2023. Pitch Day 2023 returns in-person to the Florence Gould Theater in New York City. This annual event features pitches and presentations from 23 ventures from both the ABCT and WCBA life sciences accelerator programs. This year's event will also feature a panel of distinguished alums who will share their work changing care within biosciences.
Friday, 5/19 Nucleate New York Final Pitch Showcase. Join Nucleate’s New York chapter for the culminating event for their second annual Activator cohort, featuring innovative and entrepreneurial student teams spanning all major regional biomedical institutions, developing pioneering work in platform discoveries, diagnostics, and therapeutics. Hosted at Alexandria LaunchLabs, it will be an exciting afternoon of talks from the next generation of biotech leaders sharing their exciting technologies.
