Wednesday, 10/25 Rutgers iJOBS Annyal Symposium. Current graduate students, postdocs, alumni, industry professionals, and faculty are all invited to attend Rutgers’ annual iJOBS symposium. The keynote speaker, Brandon Higgs, VP and Head of Translational Data Sciences at Genmab, will talk about “Artificial Intelligence in Drug Development and the Impact on the Future Workforce”. There will also be a professional development program by Supreet Bains-Sharma on on “Effective Teamworking” and how working well in a team setting is crucial to individual and professional success, as is knowing how to give and receive feedback.
Thursday 10/26 (+ Weekly on Thursday) Starta Fall 2023 Pitch Contests. Join Starta Accelerator for their weekly Fall 2023 Pitch Contests, where founders hone their startups' pitch in front of a panel of judges consisting of VCs, angels ,and industry experts. After the presentations, there will be time for Q&A followed by networking with other frontrunners, entrepreneurs and investors of the NYC startup scene.
Thursday, 10/26 BVS Biotech Community Innovation Night. Biotech Vendor Services (BVS) is inviting all research scientists from the institutes, biotech and other companies in Jersey City, New York City and surrounding areas to attend this event. This reception will be a special Biotech Community Event sponsored by some of the top scientific suppliers in the industry, along with it being a wonderful way for scientists, entrepreneurs, and scientific vendors to network. Lab tours of the 95 Greene Street space in Jersey City will be available, plus we will have wonderful food, and great raffle prizes also.
Thursday, 10/26 Genspace Biannual Open Lab. Open Lab is a biannual gathering where members of the Genspace community share their work with each other and the public. Meet other life science enthusiasts and learn about opportunities to get involved with community projects, outreach events, research at the lab, and all of their other programming. If you're considering joining the lab, or are just curious to see what they're all about, this is a great time to get to know Genspace.
Thursday, 10/26 Business Incentives for Small Companies. Join FirstXFounder and the WCBA program for this informational session to learn about state and federal tax incentives and other benefits for small, growing companies in New York and the Hudson Valley. There will also be opportunities to network with resource representatives from the various featured programs.
(NEW!) Thursday, 10/26 NYC Academic Synergy: Accelerating Scientific Innovation at IndieBio. Are you a Graduate Student or Postdoc interested in learning more about career opportunities in early stage biotech companies entrepreneurship? Are you curious about what it's like to work at a start-up or a even start your own company? Do you want to meet new aspiring scientists and work towards creating a startup based in New York? IndieBio NY has teamed up with the CUNY Postdoc Association (CUNYPDA), Columbia University Postdoc Society (CUPS), and Tri-Institutional Startup Venture Group (SVG), to host an exciting panel on the ins and outs of how to take your scientific ideas out of the lab and turn them into the tools and technologies that people need. Afterwards, there will be a chance to meet with other academic scientists and professionals, tour the IndieBio headquarters and learn more about being part of this growing ecosystem.
Friday, 10/27 BioHack NYC. Nucleate NYC and Entrepreneur First invite you to join them at BioHack New York City: an AI-in-Bio hackathon that will bring together computer scientists and biologists to build AI/ML tools that will accelerate research in the life sciences. Intended to facilitate collaboration between computer scientists and biologists, BioHack NYC will feature speakers & mentors who are creating impact using AI in biology as well as datasets and other tools to help teams develop and build their ideas. You don't need an idea or to be an expert in AI or biology, being interested in either (or both) is enough!
Tuesday, 10/31 Hallowed Halls at NYC JLABS. Embrace your inner mad scientist at this one-of-a-kind JLABS event, featuring costumes, tricks, treats, and general ghoulish gathering. Prizes for best costumes will be given out and it’s a great opportunity for the NYC biotech community to get seriously unserious.
(NEW!) Thursday, 11/2 NYC Networking Night: eLab Pitches and BRV Investor Panel. Experience the best of Cornell entrepreneurship in the Big Apple! Big Red Ventures and eLab alumni, mentors, and friends are invited to the annual NYC Networking celebration as top student startups pitch their businesses and Cornell's student-run venture fund hosts a venture capital panel. The newest cohort of students in eLab, Cornell’s student startup accelerator, have spent their first semester honing their customer market and refining their business strategy - be one of the first to hear their innovative business ideas. The event will also feature pitches from the Runway Startup Postdoc Program.

An expert panel will delve into what stakeholders like CEOs, Government entities, venture capital, et al have been doing to foster growth in NYC. They’ll also be discussing what has been done to-date, but also future plans to support innovation and specifically biotech companies.
