(NEW!) TODAY, 10/2 Nucleate 2023 Activator Info Sessions. Are you an academic trainee (Post-doc/PhD/MBA/MD/JD) interested in building a life sciences startup? Nucleate NY is looking for passionate biotech founders tackling the biggest challenges in human health and sustainability. Join their final in-person info sessions later today at NYU to learn more about the program and how they’re helping train the next generation of life science leaders.
(NEW!) TODAY, 10/2 LifeSci NYC Internship Program Info Session. Now in it’s seventh year, join the LifeSci NYC Internship Program to learn more about the program, how to apply, and how to ensure that your application is effective. The LifeSci NYC Internship Program is the city’s flagship internship placement program for careers in the life sciences and has placed hundreds of undergrad and graduate students at part- and full-time positions at companies in the NYC metro area.
(GRO Event) Tuesday, 10/3 Innovation Ecosystem Info Session. Join four pillars of the NYC biotech ecosystem (IndieBio, FirstXFounder, Nucleate, and GRO-Biotech) for a tag-teamed info session covering programs that represent biotech innovation from ideation to execution. Learn about each program’s offerings and how you can get involved, plus meet other innovation-minded community members and check out IndieBio’s awesome lab and incubation space at their new midtown offices.
Sunday, 10/8 SciArt Synapse Mixer. Enjoy an afternoon of meeting artists, scientists, technologists, and cross-disciplinary practitioners —around the world, from wherever you are! The event will include a few organized rounds of blind networking in breakout rooms and then some longer sessions on chosen topics.
(NEW!) Tuesday, 10/10 LifeSci NYC Careers Panel. Join the LifeSci NYC Internship Program for their Virtual Career Panel: Starting Your Career in the Life Science Industry. The panel will feature alumni of the internship program who are now flourishing in varying roles across the industry.
(NEW!) Thursday, 10/12 CVC-NY x BIOTECH XYZ Happy Hour. Calling all individuals interested in the venture space – entrepreneurs, founders, investors, venture capitalists – Join Columbia Venture Community and BIOTECH XYZ for the latest installment of their monthly happy hour series - this one with a focus on biotech! As always, you get a drink ticket with your registration.
Wednesday, 10/18 NY Hardware Meetup at NewLab. New York’s hardware startup ecosystem will convene at NewLab for a special NY Tech Week edition of the long-running community meetup. There’ll be a few featured guest speakers discussing their startups, plus time at the end for updates and networking with the wider community.
(NEW!) Thursday, 10/26 BVS Biotech Community Innovation Night. Biotech Vendor Services (BVS) is inviting all research scientists from the institutes, biotech and other companies in Jersey City, New York City and surrounding areas to attend this event. This reception will be a special Biotech Community Event sponsored by some of the top scientific suppliers in the industry, along with it being a wonderful way for scientists, entrepreneurs, and scientific vendors to network. Lab tours of the 95 Greene Street space in Jersey City will be available, plus we will have wonderful food, and great raffle prizes also.
(NEW!) Friday, 10/27 BioHack NYC. Nucleate NYC and Entrepreneur First invite you to join them at BioHack New York City: an AI-in-Bio hackathon that will bring together computer scientists and biologists to build AI/ML tools that will accelerate research in the life sciences. Intended to facilitate collaboration between computer scientists and biologists, BioHack NYC will feature speakers & mentors who are creating impact using AI in biology as well as datasets and other tools to help teams develop and build their ideas. You don't need an idea or to be an expert in AI or biology, being interested in either (or both) is enough!
Tuesday, 10/31 Hallowed Halls at NYC JLABS. Embrace your inner mad scientist at this one-of-a-kind JLABS event, featuring costumes, tricks, treats, and general ghoulish gathering. Prizes for best costumes will be given out and it’s a great opportunity for the NYC biotech community to get seriously unserious.
